Scriptures: 1 Kings 18:21-40, 16:30, 33, Isaiah 45:20, 2 Chronicles 16:9

The term "culture shock" was first introduced in 1958 to describe the anxiety of a person who is surrounded by a new environment. You don't have to move to another country to experience culture shock. In fact, North American culture has changed so markedly in the last few decades it's possible to experience culture shock in our own lives today as the world literally shifts beneath our feet. In this message, Dr. Merritt helps Christ-followers understand how we relate to the culture we are living in today. There are three key principles we can understand from the prophet Elijah, who was living in a culture corrupted with false gods and false prophets.

"In this culture that we are living in, God is looking for His people to face Culture Shock with a culture shock of their own. There is nothing that will shock an unsaved person who has no relationship to God into taking the steps he or she needs to take to have that relationship with God, like seeing those of us who do have a relationship with God, show it in the way we live and the way we trust and the way we obey God and that is the greatest Culture Shock of all." --Dr. Merritt
