Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 11:24-28, 11:33, Romans 6:4

When we partake of the Lord’s Supper, we observe an event that is 2,000 years old, but that event is based upon another event that is 1,000 years older called the Passover. The simple message of the Lord's Supper is this--because of the dying of His body and the shedding of His blood, a Holy God can "pass over" your sins. That is why the Lord' Supper is a time of celebration. We do not come to the table to mourn someone who is dead. We have come to celebrate someone who is alive. Dr. Merritt uses this message to explain the biblical expression of the Lord's Supper according to God's Word. The message is a tremendous companion for the celebration of the Lord's Supper by a congregation.

"There is not a more beautiful picture of what Jesus did for us and what He means to us than the Lord's Supper. In a day when people agree that Jesus was a great teacher or a great philosopher or a great moral leader, Jesus himself said, 'I want you to remember not just how I was born or how I lived, but how I died.' The Lord's Supper says to us each time we observe it--never forget--Jesus died for you." --Dr. Merritt
