Scriptures: Psalm 1, Proverbs 30:20, 14:9

Do you ever wish you could live life twice? That you had a do-over so you could go back with what you know now and live it again, after you had it all "figured out?" Often that's the only way we see that we could ever live happy and die happy. We're so blind to what really matters, that we often never find "true happiness" in life, and believe that's only something we see after we die. Are you happy with your life, your job, your marriage? Are you happy with who you are and what you are doing with your life? In this message, Dr. Merritt helps us find that most elusive and difficult of goals for life--happiness. God is not a kill-joy that doesn't want us to be happy. He does give us happiness--but in His way. He wants our happiness to be not only internal, not only external, but also eternal.

"I find it interesting that in the longest book of the Bible, the Book of Psalms (which is a collection of one-hundred fifty Psalms) the very first psalm deals with being happy. If you don’t know this already, psalms are actually songs. Originally, psalms were not read or taught. They were sung. The very first song in this musical collection is about happiness. In the first verse of Psalm 1, God talks about the man who is 'blessed.' In the Hebrew language, the word 'blessed' literally means 'to be happy.' If this song had a title it probably would have been called, 'How To Be Happy.'" --Dr. Merritt
