Scriptures: Ecclesiastes 4:8-12, Genesis 2:18, Proverbs 18:1, 18:22, Psalm 127:3

God made us to need and flourish in relationships. Even though He created Adam first, Eve was not an afterthought. The Bible tells us that "It was not good for man to be alone" (Genesis 2:18). Among the life lessons from the book of Ecclesiastes is that we are more productive, profitable and purposeful when we are together. In marriage he gives us husbands and wives. In families he gives us brothers and sisters. In life he gives us friends and companions. Because there is strength in numbers. In fact, as Dr. Merritt explains in this message, nothing in life is completely personal--we just can't live in isolation.

"Has it ever occurred to you that there are three things that we all need, but you can never have alone? We need companionship, but one cannot be a companion to himself. We need comfort, but one cannot be a comfort to himself. We need counsel, but one cannot counsel himself. Two are better than one." --Dr. Merritt
