The Bible is God's great story of redemption centered on the Person of Christ. So much of what we read in the Old Testament is preparing us for and foreshadowing Christ to come. Perhaps that's why nearly 1/4 of the book of Genesis is devoted to the story of Joseph. The creation of all the galaxies are given just five words in Genesis, yet Joseph consumes fourteen chapters. Why? Dr. Merritt looks at the story of this young man and how it parallels a Savior who will come many years later to save His people from their sins.

"Can you see in this picture, in eternity past of a heavenly Hebron in the eternal city of God, where the Father and Son enjoyed unbroken communion and fellowship? Together they had created the world, the animals, the plants, the trees, and then crowned it all with the creation of man, only to see sin come in and plunge man into hopeless despair? Both knew the dangers that lay ahead and they knew there was no other way but for Jesus to lay down His heavenly crown and take up a crown of thorns; to lay aside the adoration of angels and come to earth to experience the condemnation of sinners; to lay aside heaven's glory to take up the world's guilt." --Dr. Merritt
