Scriptures: Proverbs 28:13, 1 John 1: 6-10, Psalm 51:3, 2 Corinthians 7:10, Isaiah 55:7, Numbers 32:23

Have you ever heard the phrase, "Confession is good for the soul?" How we deal with our sin is important, because it determines how God deals with us. Proverbs says those who cover their sin will not prosper, but those who confess it and forsake it will have mercy (28:13). Today many believers mis-handle sin. They deny it, sweep it under the carpet, make excuses for it. We convince ourselves that we really haven't done anything wrong. In this message, Dr. Merritt explains the wonderful release for the believer in confessing and dealing with our sin. When we admit what we have done--when we come clean--we find that real confession is truly good for the soul.

"The Holy Spirit of God convicts us of sin. He will tell you specifically what you have done and He will lead you to confess specifically what He has told you you have done. Our problem is, we want to sin retail, but we want to confess wholesale. Many people think if you simply say that you are sorry for what you have done, you've confessed. Now that is the beginning of confession, but it is not the end of confession." --Dr. Merritt
