Have you ever been angry? Lonely? Depressed? Sorrowful? Have you ever been misunderstood--misrepresented--misjudged--mistreated? Well, God knows exactly how you feel. You do not have a pain, sorrow, hurt, grief or heartache that our Lord has not experienced. Unlike a former President, he really does feel your pain. Of all of the statements Jesus made on the cross, this sermon examines the shortest. It is one word in the Greek of four letters; two words in the English, “I thirst.” It is the only statement in which the Lord Jesus referred to his body and his physical suffering. As Dr. Merritt relates through this message, that one Greek word, two English words, are packed with great insight into that precious one who died on the cross for us.

"These two words tell us that Jesus was determined to fulfill the will of God perfectly, and the Word of God completely. Not one prophecy would be unfulfilled, not one promise would go unkept, not one prediction would go unrealized. 'For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen.' (2 Corinthians 1:20) Though I cannot belabor the point, we should be every bit as submissive to the will of God and the Word of God, as was our Lord Jesus Christ." --Dr. Merritt
