Scriptures: Luke 10:25-37

When we think about greatness in God's eyes--being a servant of the "least of these" elevates us to His idea of greatness--there's one example that comes to mind in the New Testament: the story of the Good Samaritan. The parable is in answer to an educated man who asked Jesus a simple question: "Who is my neighbor?" In this profound story, Jesus introduces three characters: a priest, a Levite and a Samaritan. He uses these three characters to share one of the most shocking truths the people of that day would ever hear. In the message, Dr. Merritt elaborates on Jesus' profound truth: true greatness is when we see caring in action. Words are simply not enough.

"Great people are always willing to help when help is needed regardless of the cost. Greatness is just a matter of crossing the street. The truth is too many people think it is beneath them to serve, particularly if they think it is a menial position. You can always find a reason not to serve others, but your reason will never be good enough for God." --Dr. Merritt
