You Can Know What To Do With Your Life
What are you going to be when you grow up? That is a question that we get asked from the time we are in kindergarten. The answer may change with each passing year but it is a question that we ask ourselves all our life. This is the first of a three part sermon series called,"Take it to the Bank."
Below is an excerpt from Dr. Merritt that shows us that we can know what to do with our life no matter what our age. This sermon gives you something that you can "Take to the bank!"
"Today, we are going to deal with, perhaps, the most difficult, gut wrenching, agonizing, momentous decision anyone ever has to make in their life. It is a decision that will follow you all the way to the grave. It is the one decision that will determine whether you waste your life or invest your life. It is a decision that can literally save lives or take lives.
Adolph Hitler, Josef Stalin and Karl Marx, made their decision one way and their decision cost the world millions of lives, trillions of dollars and enough heartache, misery and grief to last thousands of years.
On the other hand, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jonas Salk, and Thomas Edison made their decisions another way and they brought the greatest nation in history into existence, ended slavery, elevated civil rights, eradicated polio and brought day-time to darkness.
What is that decision? "What Am I Going To Do With My Life?" It is the big decision facing the college student who has to decide on a major. It is the big decision facing the newly retired senior adult who still has twenty years of meaningful life ahead. It is the big decision facing the middle-aged person who is wondering what to do with the prime years of his or her life."
