When God Gets Excited
"The reason why Jesus was so excited was He knew there was only one reason that would have motivated them to go to all that trouble to get that man to him and it was this: They believed Jesus could and would heal their friend. If you are a believer today, I want to encourage you to begin to believe this - God can use you to bring other people to Jesus.
"By the way, did you notice it was a team approach? It took four men to bring him to Jesus. So often that is how it is. Most people are not brought to Jesus simply by one person, it is usually a team. There is a man in this church, who has a special bond to me. He is here every Sunday. When I met this man, he was about as far away from God as a man could get. He had lost his job and was on the verge of losing his family. His sister had been praying for him as well as his wife, that God would break through and break into his heart.
"This man, like me, happens to be a rabid Georgia Bulldog fan. He had great confidence in Coach Mark Richt as a man as well as a coach. He thought if he could just talk to Coach Mark Richt, maybe Coach Richt could help him. He called Coach Richt's office and to show you the kind of man Coach Richt is, he took the call not even knowing who this man was or what he wanted. Coach Richt took 45 minutes to talk to this man about Jesus.
"When Coach Richt found out where this man lived, he called me and told me about him, gave me his number, and asked me if I would see him. I called him that very day, we met for lunch the next day at a Zaxby's restaurant of all places. Sitting in that restaurant, I was able to bring that man to faith in Jesus Christ. His heart was changed. His life was transformed and he is back with his family and serving Jesus. God gets excited when people believe they can be used to bring other people to Jesus."
