The Climb
"Looking back over my life, I have learned something about life and it is this - Life is all about the climb. Life is all about finding mountains and facing mountains that have to be climbed in order to be fulfilled, productive and even happy. I submit to you today the unhappiest people in the world are the people who have no more mountains to climb. There are mountains everywhere and every one of you out there face one or more of these mountains.
"Here are just some mountains that you have to climb in life.
• Having a strong stable marriage.
• Raising children with or without a spouse.
• Getting a college degree.
• Finding meaningful employment.
• Starting a business.
• Staying sexually pure.
• Getting out of debt.
• Starting and building a new church.
"It hit me the other day, as I was driving in to church, that every time you drive in to church, you climb a hill. Quite frankly, this church is more than a church. It is a mountain. It is a mountain that I have chosen to climb and thank God a mountain that many of you have chosen to climb with me. Climbing mountains can be exhilarating, certainly full of adventure, fraught with danger, and it is not for the faint of heart."
